Tarkine Wilderness Lodge

Located 34 kilometres from Wynyard, on the northern edge of the Tarkine Rainforest, near Meunna, the Tarkine Wilderness Lodge is nestled in a clearing, with 360 degree views of the surrounding forest.

Constructed from Tasmanian macracarpa timber, the superbly appointed lodge offers complete seclusion from the outside world. Taking five years to complete, the amazing design enables the immense beams and rafters to be seen from inside the building. The timber, including the rare rainforest species of Myrtle, Celery Top Pine and Sassafras, has all been sawmilled on the property.

The stunning open-plan lounge and dining areas allow guests to mingle, in a convivial atmosphere. Delicious home style cuisine, of fresh Tasmanian produce and wines, is on offer, or if guests wish to self-cater, this can be arranged. Three double bedrooms, feature Tasmanian timber, a queen-size bed and well appointed en-suite. The Tarkine Wilderness Lodge offers guests the exclusive use of the Lodge and facilities including 3 luxurious suites with ensuite and beautiful vistas of the surrounding rainforest.

Operating on renewable energy, sourced from solar panels, the lodge and conducted tours are low impact to ensure the smallest ecological footprint. Experiences include guided walks through the temperate rainforest, a barbecue lunch or a picnic by the upper reaches of the Arthur River. Sensational nocturnal tours offer rare glimpses into the secret lives of Tasmania’s amazing animal kingdom.

For an unforgettable stay, in tune with nature, this remote lodge set in the Tarkine rain forest, yet only 30 minutes drive from civilization, is the perfect spot to discover Tasmania’s hidden treasures.
