Produce of North West Tasmania

Tasmania is a foodies paradise where a clean green image prevails. The north west, with its excellent soils and temperate climate, is the food bowl of the island, where an amazing variety of fruits, vegetables, dairy and beef products, honey, herbs and speciality meats are grown. Fish species, wild or farmed, fresh, smoked or frozen, are plentiful.
From saffron to wasabi, or truffles, the north west region is a microcosm of spectacular natural produce, including vast indigenous timber resources, crafted into contemporary furniture by talented, fine furniture designers.

Blue Hills Honey is owned and operated by the Charles family at Mawbanna, with roots tracing back three generations to forebear, Bernard Charles, who kept bees as a hobby. His son Rueben expanded the honey production to 1600 hives and in 2003 grandson, Robbie and wife Nicola, took over the family business.
Expertly packaged and marketed, this dynamic duo, with assistance from dedicated staff, have now taken their award winning, export business to new heights.

Cape Grim Beef is a niche brand of quality beef, grown in a natural environment, in north western Tasmania. The tender beef is devoid of hormones, antibiotics and genetic modification. The brand is named after Cape Grim, where the cleanest air in the world is measured at the monitoring station, on Woolnorth, the vast pastoral property of the Van Diemen’s Land Company. Meat is graded to strict Meat Standards Australia guidelines, by Greenham Tasmania at Smithton, to ensure a consistent quality product.
