Wineries, Vineyards, Breweries and Distilleries of North West Tasmania

Tasmania’s ideal climate produces some of the highest quality wines in Australia, including chardonnay, pinot noir, riesling, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and various sparkling wines. These premium wines are gaining high praise from wine judges and critics alike, with north west wineries enjoying an increased reputation for producing high quality products. If you would like to visit, sample and purchase direct from the producer, below are listed many of the north west vineyards. Also included are two new ventures, a distillery and a brewery.

Barringwood Park Vineyard – 60 Gillams Rd, Lower Barrington.
Savour a platter of local produce with a glass of one of Barringwood Park’s award winning wines.
Enjoy the views from the outside deck.

Ghost Rock Vineyard – 1055 Port Sorell Rd, Northdown.
Ghost Rock Vineyard, formerly Patrick Creek Vineyard, offers a modern cellar door experience, with restaurant on site.

Hawley and Rubicon Vineyard – Hawley Beach, near Port Sorell.
Established in 1882, Hawley’s six hectare vineyard is planted with chardonnay and pinot noir grapes. Restaurant and accommodation on site.

Hellyers Road Distillery – 153 Old Surrey Rd, Burnie.
Hellyers Road Distillery offers an Australian Single Malt whisky, matured in oak casks; a genuine alternative to the ‘familiar’ old brands.

Lake Barrington Estate Vineyard – 1133 West Kentish Rd.
Taste Lake Barrington wines at the cellar door, or dine alfresco with a platter of Tasmanian delicacies, whilst enjoying the views.

Leven Valley Wines – 321 Raymond Rd, Gunns Plains.
Visit the tasting room to sample Leven Valley cool climate wines and enjoy the views of Gunns Plains and the Leven River.

Martin Vineyard – 671 Moorville Rd, Burnie.
Located in Moorville, near Burnie. Open by appointment only.

Motton Terraces Winery – 119 Purton Rd, North Motton.
A small vineyard and winery nestled in the bush and producing award winning wines – meet the winemaker for an unforgettable experience.

Seven Sheds Brewery – 22 Crockers Street, Railton.
Seven Sheds produces Kentish Ale, seasonal beers as well as honey wines and melomels, using hops grown on site, local honeys and malts.

Three Willows Vineyard – 46 Montana Rd, Red Hills.
Located near Deloraine, with accommodation on site, Three Willows Vineyard is open by appointment only.

Tiger Ranch Vineyard – 116 Allisons Rd, Lower Barrington.
Tiger Ranch Vineyard consists of a winery, small brewery, art gallery and horse stud. Open by appointment only.

White Rock Vineyard – 1171 Railton Rd, Kimberley.
Open by appointment only, with cellar door sales available at Lake Barrington Estate Vineyard.

Wilmot Hills Vineyard – 407 Back Rd, Wilmot.
Established in 1991, Wilmot Hills Winery is a unique micro vineyard and has a boutique winery and distillery.

Myrtle Brook Fruit Wines – 1071 Backline Road, Wiltshire.
Taste delicious fruit wines made from homegrown boysenberry, elderberry, blackberry and quince.
Sales by appointment.

Enjoy – but remember random breath-testing is prevalent in Tasmania.
