Black Rock Retreat
Black Rock Retreat is a secluded, designer retreat, offering discerning visitors, luxury, self catering accommodation. Perched 100 metres above sea level, on 10 acres of picturesque, rural surroundings, Black Rock gives guests unsurpassed sea views of Bass Strait. Sealed access is via a coastal bush reserve, with expansive views of the shoreline, where the earliest European settlers first came ashore, using the ‘Black Rock’, as their landing jetty at low tide.
Contemporary in design and featuring Tasmanian timbers throughout, this intimate retreat is ideally suited for two couples and includes a full breakfast. Identical ensuite rooms are separated by the living area, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry and a luxury spa room.
On arrival, guests receive a complimentary bottle of Tasmanian wine, chocolates and cheeses.
The outside barbecue deck provides panoramic vistas of coastal scenery and an excellent view of the farm and ocean below. From here, eagles can be seen soaring the thermals and the occasional whale migrating during the winter months. At night time, native wildlife abounds.
Below is a coastal walking and cycling track leading to the picturesque village of Penguin with it’s weekly undercover market. The retreat is also close to the north west tourism attractions of Cradle Mountain and Stanley, and within easy distance of the coastal towns of Burnie and Devonport.
With access signage from the Bass Highway, between Heybridge and Sulphur Creek, this conveniently situated coastal retreat is a superb base to explore North West Tasmania.
