Corinna Wilderness Experience

Corinna is a tiny historic mining town set in rainforest, on the banks of the majestic Pieman River in Tasmania’s rugged, wild, west.

It is situated at the southern end of the Tarkine protected area, the largest temperate rainforest in Australia and where the most northern stands of the famous Huon pine grow.

Today, you can stay at Corinna in a restored miners’ cottage, the old pub guesthouse or one of 14 newly constructed cabins. The site is solar powered with a back up generator and all cabins have gas heating and hot water. Enjoy accommodation with comfortable beds, hot showers, fridges, modern cooking facilities and pure rainwater on tap. You are ‘at home with nature’. The Tarkine Hotel houses the reception area, as well as the Tannin Restaurant, which is open for lunch and dinner, and a small provisions store.

The interior of one of the cabinsGuests at Corinna have access to five self-guided walks, enabling an inspirational experience of nature in a 60 million year old rainforest. Guests can hire a kayak and enjoy a self-guided tour of the Pieman River and its tributaries or take the river cruise on the Arcadia 2 to the Pieman heads, a gateway to the Southern Ocean, or a smooth water cruise aboard Sweetwater.

The town nowadays, is a peaceful place to stay. Come explore the Tarkine forest and walking tracks, meet the resident wildlife and discover the history of the west coast.

Corinna is 60 kilometres north of Strahan and 70 kilometres west of Cradle Mountain.
